Suzanne's b-day & Teen Taco Night

A picture of the teen taco dinner. Thanks for the mexican spices and tortilla's that helped make this night possible. Also picutred is my gorgeous "now older than me" wife that celebrated her first birth day overseas. Happy birthday Suzanne.

February 2008 New Snow

Once again we would like to thank you for continuing to “hold the rope” for the Roberts family. It seems that we are always experiencing new things and new people. Even now as I type this newsletter we are in the middle of a predicted four day blizzard. The locals here call it a cyclone, it is a front that comes off the ocean and produces 50 to 60 km winds and drops enormous amounts of snow. For example, there are cars parked outside our window and you cannot see them. One would never know that a car was there if he did not know that it was normal parking places for people. It makes for an exciting day learning how to maneuver around with 5 or 6 foot of snow in places.
Ministry news: The Lord has once again allowed us to speak in some churches this month. Marty was able to preach at the church in Elizovo and at Immanuel church, the new church plant. Great news on Central church in Petropavlovsk, they have found a new place to meet. Thanks so much for praying for this situation. There is also an evangelist in the Far East at this time. He is a Russian poet named Pavel. He will be traveling up and down the Kamchatka Peninsula into many small towns and doing a poetry reading and then an evangelistic service. Please pray for Pavel during this next month. During the meetings the youth will also be told about the summer youth camps that are being planned. Please pray that many young people sign up for the camps.
Thanks to a box of goodies sent to us from the states we were able to have Mexican food night at our house. We were able to have several Russian teenagers come out to share in the meal. They had never tasted Mexican food. It was a big hit and we have plans with them to have a monthly meeting with food and fellowship. Praise the Lord for this new opportunity with these young people. Pray that it will lead to life changing decisions. We also are able to make many contacts during the Saturday English Club. Each Saturday at 4 pm at the library we have an English lesson and many Russians are coming to the lessons. Pray that God would continue to use this to draw people to Christ.
Family & School News: The family is doing well and still loving the snow. Lee has become a pretty good snowboarder and has used this tool to make many new friends. Emma is currently learning to snow board. She is doing well but has not yet graduated to the top of the snow slope. Marty has managed to learn to downhill ski. Suzanne has taken up the sport of cross country skiing. Cross country skiing will be very useful to us when we trek out to many of the villages, not to mention it is great exercise. God has continued to bless us with good health, with the exception of a few colds.
Both Lee and Emma are doing very well in their home school curriculum and have a wonderful teacher, Rachel. Marty and Suzanne continue to spend many hours each week learning the Russian Language. Please pray for all of us as we learn to speak Russian. Lee and Emma are also learning the language. Communication with folks is still difficult due to the language barrier but we are making ground. Thanks so much for holding the rope. Feel free to contact us at any time with any questions or just to let us know how things are in the states.
